Job Title:Graduation Interventionist

ADMINISTRATIVE/SUPERVISORY SALARY SCHEDULE (ADMSPV) - 200 DAYS

Grade M (40,335-63,210)

Position Summary

The graduation interventionist will be responsible for data collection, tracking student progress toward on-time graduation, meeting with parents and students, and working with our counseling and administrative teams to develop strategies to improve graduation rate. They will do this by ensuring that students graduate on time and college/career ready. The ideal candidate will have teaching and/or counseling experience and is able to work independently and with our faculty and administrative team to ensure that our graduation goals are met.

Provide in- and out-of-school case management services to a selected group of at-risk high school students (30 to 40) and their families at a Greenville County Schools (GCS) high school. Dropout prevention, intervention and other outreach efforts will be provided in conjunction with 1) high school personnel; 2) feeder, middle-school staff; 3) GCS employees responsible for alternative and supplemental educational programs; and 4) community agencies able to meet the health and social service needs of students and their families. The goal of the Graduation Coach is to increase student attendance and achievement resulting in an increased graduation rate at their assigned high school.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

One or more years of successful experience working with secondary at-risk students in, or involving, their school environment.

Working knowledge of appropriate strategies and resources for reducing behaviors that put students at risk of not graduating from high school.

Additional Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, staff, students, and parents.

Interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with school staff, parents, students and community groups.

Working knowledge of computers, word processing and database software.

Ability to analyze data and develop, implement and track intervention plans and strategies

Ability to travel to schools, attendance area neighborhoods and throughout the District as needed.

Valid South Carolina Driver’s License with applicable insurance coverage.

Reports To:Supervisor – School Principal

Job Goal:To increase student attendance and achievement among the targeted students resulting in an increased graduation rate at their assigned high school.
